Hello Rising Third through Sixth Grade Families!
This summer, the North Carolina Student Academy of Science Board is providing a new and exciting opportunity for elementary students to learn how to conduct scientific research and write a research paper.
NCSAS holds research competitions each year throughout the winter and spring where middle and high school students present their research in a ten-minute slideshow presentation. In order to compete in the NCSAS research competitions, students must first know how to research, how to write a research paper, and how to conduct an experiment or study using the scientific methods. Because many students may not have the skills needed to be successful in research competitions when they first begin competing, the student board would like to offer virtual workshops in late July to introduce students to these skills. The topics will include writing a research paper, conducting an experiment or study, analyzing data, and effectively presenting the research.
The workshops we are offering will be held through Zoom on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays starting July 20 and going through July 31. For each of the workshops, we will offer a morning session (10-11AM) and an afternoon session (2-3PM). They are free for all students, and students may attend as many workshops as they would like. We ask that you please register for the workshops using our google form at https://forms.gle/j9kwKCmUgJNivotB7.
